Equine Transferrin ELISA Kit

A sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) from Antibodies.com enables the in vitro quantitative determination of horse Transferrin in serum, plasma, or other biological fluids. The immunoassay employs a Transferrin-specific antibody pre-coated onto a microtiter plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells, where Transferrin binds to the immobilised antibody. After incubation and washing, a Biotinylated Anti-Transferrin Antibody binds the captured Transferrin, and an HRP-Avidin conjugate is then added. A TMB substrate visualises the HRP enzymatic reaction, producing a coloured product whose intensity is proportional to the amount of Transferrin captured. The Transferrin concentration is calculated from the O.D. absorbance at 450 nm against a standard curve.

The assay has a sensitivity of <34 ng/ml and a measuring range of 78.1-5000 ng/ml, read on a colorimetric microplate reader. Total assay time is approximately 4 hours 30 minutes. The kit includes a pre-coated microplate, lyophilised standard, detection solutions, wash buffer, sample dilution buffer, TMB substrate, stop solution, and plate sealers, with storage at +4°C or -20°C as instructed. Components should not be used past their expiration date.

Validation across n=5 replicates per sample type showed average recovery of 91% in serum (range 80-102%), 90% in EDTA plasma (range 81-100%), and 84% in heparin plasma (range 80-89%). Linearity was also evaluated at dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 in the same sample types.
