A sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of horse Interferon beta in serum, plasma or other biological fluids. The kit is offered by Antibodies.com within their Assays and Kits product range and is reactive with equine samples, targeting Interferon beta. The assay uses a sandwich enzyme immunoassay format, with an antibody specific for Interferon beta pre-coated onto a 96-well microtiter plate. Standards and test samples are added to the wells and Interferon beta is captured by the immobilised antibody. After incubation and washing, a Biotinylated Anti-Interferon beta Antibody is added, followed by HRP-Avidin conjugate. After further incubation and washing, TMB substrate produces a blue colour that turns yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution; absorbance is read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader and the concentration of Interferon beta is calculated against a standard curve.

The assay range is 31.2–2000 pg/ml with a sensitivity of <13.4 pg/ml. The total assay time is 4 hours 30 minutes on a pre-coated microplate platform (12 x 8 well strips), read on a colorimetric microplate reader. Kit components are stored at +4°C or −20°C as instructed, and the kit should not be used past its expiration date. Reported average recoveries across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma fall within approximately 84–91%, with dilution linearity demonstrated at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 across the same sample types.
