Description
From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of canine Osteocalcin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips) with an antibody specific for Osteocalcin, followed by a Biotinylated Anti-Osteocalcin Antibody and an HRP-Avidin conjugate, with signal developed using TMB substrate. The colour change is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader and the Osteocalcin concentration in each sample is calculated against the standard curve.
Quoted performance characteristics include an assay range of 0.781–50 ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.244 ng/ml, with a total assay time of 4 h 30 m. Spike-and-recovery averages reported by the manufacturer are 92% for serum (range 82%–102%, n=5), 95% for EDTA plasma (range 90%–100%, n=5) and 94% for heparin plasma (range 88%–100%, n=5), with linearity data provided for serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 across the same sample types. Kit components are intended for storage at +4 °C or −20 °C as indicated in the insert, and the reagents must not be used past the stated expiration date.
