Canine Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Antibodies.com designed for the in vitro quantitative measurement of canine Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). The assay is intended for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates and cell culture supernates.

The microplate is pre-coated with an antibody specific for BDNF. Standards and test samples are added to the wells, where any BDNF present is bound by the immobilised antibody. After washing, a biotinylated anti-BDNF antibody binds the captured BDNF, followed by an HRP-Avidin conjugate. TMB substrate is then used to visualise the HRP enzymatic reaction, producing a blue product that turns yellow on addition of the acidic stop solution. The density of the yellow colour is proportional to the amount of BDNF captured in each well, and the concentration is calculated from the O.D. absorbance read at 450 nm in a colorimetric microplate reader.

Reported performance figures include a product range of 0.156–10 ng/ml and a sensitivity of <0.055 ng/ml. Total assay time is 4 h 30 min. Kit components should be stored at +4°C or −20°C as instructed and not used past the stated expiration date.
