Bovine Lactoferrin ELISA Kit

From Antibodies.com, this sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of bovine Lactoferrin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, saliva, milk, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. The kit uses a pre-coated 96-well microplate (12 x 8 well strips) with colorimetric detection read at 450 nm in a microplate reader. An antibody specific for Lactoferrin is immobilised on the plate; standards and samples are added, followed by Biotinylated Anti-Lactoferrin Antibody, HRP-Avidin conjugate, and TMB substrate. The reaction produces a blue colour that turns yellow upon addition of acidic stop solution, with absorbance proportional to the amount of Lactoferrin captured in each well.

The assay has a working range of 1.56–100 ng/ml, a sensitivity of <0.71 ng/ml, and a total assay time of 4h 30m. Spike-and-recovery has been validated in serum (n=5, range 80%–102%, average 91%), EDTA plasma (n=5, range 81%–99%, average 90%), and heparin plasma (n=5, range 80%–89%, average 84%). Dilution linearity has been demonstrated across 1:2 to 1:16 sample dilutions for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma. Kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed and should not be used past the expiration date.
