Description

Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this Bovine Alpha-Lactalbumin ELISA Kit is a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (sELISA) intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of bovine alpha-lactalbumin in milk or other biological fluids. The assay uses a 96-well microplate pre-coated with an antibody specific for alpha-lactalbumin; standards and samples are added to the wells, where the analyte is captured by the immobilised antibody. After washing, a biotinylated anti-alpha-lactalbumin antibody is added, followed by an HRP-avidin conjugate and TMB substrate. The enzymatic reaction is stopped with an acidic stop solution, producing a yellow colour that is read at 450 nm on a colorimetric microplate reader, with the optical density proportional to the analyte concentration and quantified against the standard curve.

The standard curve covers a range of 0.781-50 ng/ml, with a sensitivity of <0.32 ng/ml, and the full assay can be completed in 4h 30m. Reported spike-and-recovery values (n=5) are 80% - 102% (average 91%) for serum, 81% - 99% (average 90%) for EDTA plasma, and 80% - 89% (average 84%) for heparin plasma, with corresponding dilution-linearity ranges also reported in the product documentation. The kit is configured on a pre-coated 12 x 8 well strip microplate and is supplied with a lyophilised standard, Detection Solution A and Detection Solution B, a 30X Wash Buffer, Sample Dilution Buffer, TMB Substrate, Stop Solution, and adhesive plate sealers; kit components are stored at +4°C or -20°C as instructed in the protocol and should not be used past the expiration date.
