• JC-1 is a ratiometric mitochondrial membrane potential dye: it forms green-fluorescent monomers at low membrane potential and red-fluorescent J-aggregates at high membrane potential.
• Widely used for live-cell assays to assess mitochondrial polarization and depolarization events.
• Supplied as 5 mg for preparation of concentrated stocks.

Handling: prepare stock (commonly in DMSO), protect from light, store frozen as recommended by the manufacturer. Optimize working concentration and incubation time for your cell type; include appropriate controls (uncouplers/positive and negative controls) for interpretation.
